Politico reports that Elon Musk gave another $76 million to Republicans to boost their chances of retaining power in the midterm elections, upping his total donations to $442 million.
This is reprehensible on its own, as the richest man in the world continues to try to corrupt and buy elections away from the voting population.
But as the Washington Post explains, he is not alone. Of the top 10 billionaires donating to political parties, nine of them go to Republicans, and only one, George Soros, donates to Democrats.
That comes out to $1.04 billion for Republicans to $102 million for Democrats just from the top 10 alone.
Musk’s spending is historic even in an era where political giving is dominated by billionaires. In total, the top donors in American politics have poured in more than $2.3 billion to influence the midterm elections. They are dominated by Republicans.
Trumps tax cuts from the Big Ugly Bill that takes from the poor and gives to the rich, and deprives millions of Americans of healthcare and much-needed food assistance has funneled up to the wealthiest in the country and they are spending to make sure that continues.
The reverse Robbin Hood scenario is playing out the way Trump hoped.
The amount of money the wealth class is making is monumental, while Trump’s economy strangles the life out of the working class.
