Will A.I. Kill Off Humanity By 2030?

Well, this is interesting.

“Ex-Anthropic researcher Jacob Coxon joined CNN’s Anderson Cooper to explain exactly how AI could kill us all by the end of the decade—and why his former bosses secretly agree with him.”

COOPER: The people building AI earnestly believe that it could kill us all by the end of the decade. This is not a marketing stunt. If anything, many executives and senior researchers will couch their phrasing in the press to sound sensible, but I hear the same people express fear privately. No other human activity poses this level of danger

It’s a long interview but very interesting.

In 2025, there was a little-known show called The Iris Affair, devised by the wonderful Neil Cross of Luther.

It stars the awesome actress Niamh Algar, a math genius who solves an international puzzle game with huge cash and prizes for anyone who figures it out.

Anyway, the bottom line is that shadowy figures privately funded a super quantum AI computer laced with organic material, and the man who was its Dr. Frankenstein suddenly bashes it to pieces for fear of what it would do if it connected to the outside world. He then goes mute, refusing to turn it back on. The winner of their exercise was sent there to restart it. Murder and subterfuge follow.

Are we heading there now?

Open thread.
