“Not going to work”: Megyn Kelly tries to downplay Epstein emails
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Conservative media host Megyn Kelly offered a carefully hedged reaction to newly released emails from the case files of Jeffrey Epstein.

Kelly acknowledged that the documents “sound bad” for President Donald Trump while simultaneously assuring her audience that Democrats’ attempts to weaponize them are “not going to work.”

“They don’t sound good,” Kelly said on Thursday. “Why didn’t he just release these? Just release them! … Now he’s in a position of being, like, singled out as the only one, allegedly, as opposed to one of a slew of names.”

The podcast host criticized Democrats on the House Oversight Committee for redacting certain names, saying that it was an attempt to play up the connection to Trump.

Kelly drew criticism for her reaction to the broader Epstein revelations, including a bizarre rant about the difference between pedophiles and ephebophiles. Citing someone she said was close to the case, Kelly said that she had previously been under the impression that Epstein “was into the barely legal type.”

“Like, he liked 15-year-old girls. I’m just giving you facts that he wasn’t into, like, eight-year-olds,” she said. “But he liked the very young teen types that could pass for even younger than they were, but would look legal to a passerby.”

Kelly added that she began to believe Epstein was an “actual pedophile” following revelations from Attorney General Pam Bondi.

“For the first time, I thought, oh, no, he was an actual pedophile,” she said. “I don’t know whether it’s true. I have to be honest, I don’t really trust Pam Bondi’s word on the Epstein matters anymore.”
