BREAKING: Susan Collins Humiliates Herself Trying to Christen a Boat, Ends Up Drenched in Champagne
Susan Collins wanted a photo op celebrating Maine ingenuity. What she got instead was a champagne bath.
The senator posted video of herself attempting to christen 3Dirigo X, a 30-foot 3D-printed vessel built by researchers at the University of Maine’s Advanced Structures and Composites Center. Collins called it a proud moment, celebrating “Maine ingenuity at its best” and her longstanding support for the lab behind it.The video tells a different story than the caption. Instead of a clean bottle break against the hull, the champagne explodes back at her, soaking her green suit jacket from shoulder to sleeve while she stands there laughing it off, arms out, visibly drenched.
It’s the kind of moment a campaign account usually wouldn’t post. Collins posted it anyway, captioning it with genuine enthusiasm about the science behind the boat rather than the mess covering her jacket.
Sometimes the ceremony goes exactly as planned. This was not one of those times.
